General Information

 

Arcadia Public School is a Class III school, organized by grades PK-6 and 7-12, with a total enrollment of approximately 125 students.  Class sizes range from 5-18 students with one teacher responsible for their department, or in the elementary grades there are a combination of 1st & 2nd, 3rd & 4th, and 5th & 6th grades, with Kindergarten being separate.  There is also two levels of pre-school, 3 years olds and 4 year olds.

 

Due to its rural location, Arcadia Public school offers and takes a variety of distance learning classes.  This allows the school to offer upper level classes, such as Calculus, Anatomy, foreign language, social studies, and offer college level classes to students completing the curriculum.

 

Arcadia uses state sponsored NSCAS testing to give us our CRA’s, as well as testing the Science Standards through CNAA.  NWEA MAP tests are administered each fall and spring to students in grades 1 through 11.  Test results are reported to the Board of Education, with individual student reports given to the respective parents.  Other assessments are teacher-based such as checklists, unit, and basal tests.

Extra-Curricular Offerings for Students

 

Arcadia Public Schools offers a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities for our students.  For our elementary students HAL morning program, Elementary National Honor Society, Art Club, Spelling Bee, Geography Bee, and History Bee is offered.

 

For junior high and high school students, athletic teams are provided through a cooperative sponsorship with Loup City Public Schools.  For junior high students, the Arcadia/Loup City Rebels have teams in volleyball, football, girls’ cross country, boys’ cross country, girls’ basketball, boys’ basketball, wrestling, girls’ track & field, and boys’ track & field.  For high school students, the Arcadia/Loup City Rebels have teams in volleyball, football, girls’ cross country, boys’ cross country, girls’ golf, girls’ basketball, boys’ basketball, wrestling, girls’ track & field, boys’ track & field, and boys’ golf.  Cheerleading is also a cooperative sponsored activity.

 

Arcadia also offers the following extra-curricular activities on its’ own:  FFA, one-act play production, instrumental music, vocal music, speech, quiz bowl, HAL morning program, and National Honor Society.

NSCAS Information

 

The Nebraska Student-Centered Assessment System (NSCAS) is a battery of assessments in English/language arts, math, and science designed to survey a student’s general academic achievement.  Students in grades 3-8 are required to take the English/language arts and math assessments.  Students in grades 5 and 8 are also required to take the science assessments.  The assessments are based on content standards determined by the Nebraska Department of Education.  Scale scores are different from subject to subject.  A student’s test score should not be treated as an absolute measure of academic achievement, rather it is a snapshot in time of where the student is at the time the assessment is taken.  Many factors enter into student testing and the results.

AQuESTT Ratings

 

Accountability for a Quality Education System Today and Tomorrow (AQuESTT) is NDE’s system for classifying schools.  NDE believe that by integrating components of accountability, assessment, accreditation, career education, and data into a system of school improvement and support, we build a broader, bolder, and better education system for all Nebraska students.  Schools are classified as Needs Improvement, Good, Great, Excellent.

 

The AQuESTT classifications that came out in the fall of 2019 had Arcadia Public School classified as:  Elementary – Good, Middle School – Great, High School – Great, District – Great.
